Telecom operators in India, including Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel, will soon begin to roll out 5G services. The rollout of 5G services in India is expected to begin shortly after Prime Minister Modi officially launches the service.
Jio's 5G services in India
It should be noted that Reliance Industries' telecom company, Jio, has already shared the timeline for the launch of its 5G services in India. During RIL's annual general meeting, company chairman Mukesh Ambani stated that Jio will begin rolling out 5G services in India this Diwali, on October 24.
At the time of the October 24 launch, the company stated that its 5G services will be available in metro cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Chennai. Following the official launch, the telecom operator will gradually expand its standalone 5G network to other cities and towns, with the goal of providing pan-India coverage by December 2023.
Airtel's 5G services in India
Airtel, on the other hand, has confirmed that Airtel 5G services will be available in India by the end of this month. "We anticipate launching 5G services within a month. By December, we should have coverage in the major metropolitan areas. Following that, we will rapidly expand to cover the entire country "Airtel CEO Gopal Vittal stated earlier this month in a note.
The company intends to launch 5G services in India in urban areas by December 2023, with pan-India coverage following in March 2024.
