Loki Travels Multiverse More Than Doctor Strange in Loki Season 2
After his variant Sylvie (Sophia Di Martino) killed the mysterious He Who Remains (Jonathan Majors), the creator and keeper of the TVA, Loki found himself in a new universe at the end of Loki season 1. His death paved the way for a descendant of his, the infamous Kang the Conqueror, to take over the multiverse. With the MCU now in the midst of its Multiverse Saga, Loki season 2 is expected to be a pivotal piece of its overall storytelling.
Hiddleston and the Loki cast appeared onstage at this year's D23 Expo to promote the upcoming episodes. The first footage was shown to attendees. Loki is first seen creeping up behind someone reading a book. But before he gets there, he's sent elsewhere.
Loki claims he is being "pulled through time, and I saw terrible, awful things," and then opens a portal to reveal Kang's face carved in the wall behind a hologram. Eugene Cordero's Casey appears to be a prisoner or a captive of some sort. Owen Wilson appears as Mobius M. Mobius in both fancy suits and an astronaut suit. After Mobius asks, "Who said you were?" Loki lists everyone who has called him villain. ”
On paper, Loki season 2 appears to deliver on the multiverse excitement promised by this year's Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Loki is now completely stranded among newly branching timelines, and he'll be hurtling through a variety of universes as he tries to mend what was broken. This should give the show plenty of opportunities to explore interesting and surprising corners of the Marvel universe. Kang the Conqueror appears to be Loki season 2's big bad; with Avengers: The Kang Dynasty set for 2025, Marvel appears to be laying the groundwork for his villainous reign.
It remains to be seen whether Loki will face Kang, but it would be exciting if the MCU's first major villain got the chance to square off against its latest antagonist.
With Loki season 2 not set to premiere until the summer of 2023, it will be some time before Marvel makes this footage available to the public. It's unlikely to arrive until after the February release of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, another project starring Kang. Nonetheless, this Loki season 2 footage description contains enough intriguing clues to keep speculation going. At this point, a few things appear certain: The fantastic Loki and Mobius dynamic will continue in season 2, the multiverse will pose a significant threat to the characters, and things will only get more exciting from here.
